Selfless Service

The practice of offering selfless service is called seva. Seva is love in action, offering of service without expectation of reward. Seva teaches us through experience how to offer all the actions of daily life from a place of generosity and freedom. It can include both the service we offer to our local center or ashram, or guruseva, and what we give to our jobs and our loved ones.

Siddha Yoga students often marvel at the transforming power of guruseva. This practice has the power to help free us from our limited conditioning and bring us to experience the natural joy in our work and life. Through guruseva, every teaching that we are given on the spiritual path can be immediately put into practice, allowing us to assimilate it and understand it more fully. Guruseva is an integral part of the ashram daily schedule. Everything that happens in the ashram happens through the generous offering of guruseva.
