The Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland

The Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland welcomes visitors and spiritual seekers of all ages, faiths, and cultures. The Siddha Yoga Ashram in Oakland makes the teachings of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda and the Siddha Yoga practices of meditation, chanting, selfless service, hatha yoga, study, satsang, and retreat available to sincere students and seekers.

The ashram is a sacred place where the atmosphere is imbued with the grace and guidance of a living master and countless hours of spiritual practice. Such an atmosphere encourages turning within. The ashram is also a gurukula, a center of spiritual learning. Here, the teachings of the Gurus of the Siddha Yoga meditation lineage, as well as the ancient philosophies of India, are studied and put into practice.

Open seven days a week, the ashram offers a variety of events in which longtime practitioners as well as new seekers can explore the Siddha Yoga philosophy and practices.

For those simply looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to pursue their practice, the ashram's Shaktinilaya Meditation Hall, Temple, and Courtyard Garden are available daily for meditation or contemplation.

Ashram Attire
To honor the sacred tradition of the gurukula, ashram guests and Siddha Yoga students are asked to dress modestly. Please avoid tight or sheer clothing, low-cut or sleeveless tops/dresses, miniskirts, and shorts. It is appropriate to dress more formally for the Guru Gita, for events in Shaktinilaya Hall, and when visiting the Temple. See details.

We invite you to explore the various areas of the ashram on this web site.
